SWANN LANE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH Services held each Sunday at 10.30 am Evangelism through Christian Presence T his Church does not consider Evangelism to be a separate activity. In all that is done we seek to encourage people to become involved and committed to the life of the Christian fellowship. From this living fellowship flows engagement with the community around, as the Gospel is communicated by word and deed. This is seen as the Evangelical task.Sunday Services begin at 10.30 am at Swann Lane with the first part of worship being aimed specifically at the needs of young families and children. This is followed by children's group work in the hall whilst the adult worship continues in the sanctuary. Regularly on the last Sunday of each month, and on other special occasions, we celebrate Communion. (Believing our faith to be inclusive by nature, we share a communion with our children, using grapes in lieu of wine.) The congregation worship in Festival Services, 4 times per year – Easter, Anniversary (June), Harvest and Christmas. Four times a year the service is followed by a church meeting of the whole membership to consider the direction of our witness and to conduct business. In addition to Christian Aid and other international appeals, we support two local non-mainstream charities. The Church is a committed member of Churches Together in Cheadle Hulme, having good relations with all other denominations. In 2003 the church also commenced supporting the project to build an orphanage for 50 children in Northern Thailand. See our Mae Gone Orphanage web page for further information |
